Final Shirt Design

Here's the finished design! They wanted to go with their old logo so that's what that's all about. Whew!

This Thing

Today I'm gonna talk about dog toys. Because this thing:

Is baller. I can sing praises all day long about Kongs and how wonderful they are, but I'm sure if you own a dog you know all about how indestructible and stuffable they are, but they're like...8-12 bucks. This thing:

Was 4. And it's already lasted almost 2 months with three dogs chewing on it. THREE!! Let alone my super destructo Mason, my parent's two dogs have been nomming on this thing, and only one end section has been chewed to ALMOST destruction.

Now I've always heard mixed reviews on nylabone products--if you don't know, they're meant to be chewed and then break off into little digestable pieces, and they're also imbued with some sort of witchcraft that makes them taste like chicken. I've heard tales of big pieces being broken off and lodged in digestive tracts, so I always supervise them when they chew this, but I've really had no issue.

I highly recommend this thing, whatever the hell it's called. That is all.

Dog Biscuits and Other Things

I tried a different recipe I found online today! I modified a little, but only in adding more flour since it was super sticky when mixing. I like this because it was easy and I had all the stuff for it lying around. I also used White Chocolate Wonderful peanut butter by Peanut Butter & Co...unlike normal chocolate, white chocolate is safe for dogs because it's made with cocoa butter (contains Theobromine from my understanding, but in such a small dose it would take like 250 pounds of pure white chocolate to poison your dog)! And I like to spoil Mason, and that's pretty much the balling-est PB out there.

2 cups flour (+another half handful if it's too sticky)
1 cup peanut butter
1 cup milk
1 tablespoon baking powder

Mix with hands and then roll out and cut!
Bake for 20 minutes on 375. WATCH THEM! My mom's oven is a super beast and they were done and on their way to being burnt in 10. So just be careful.

Also still working on that shirt. I like the second color offset lineart, but I don't think he's too keen on it, so we'll see. Here's two versions, one with the new lettering specific to this shirt and one with the old logo I used on their CD cover.

Work in Progress

This is what I've been working on lately, my friend's metal band's tshirt junt. I did their last CD and their last tshirt, and they've sold out of those so it's time for another. This is just a version I WISH THEY'D USE or something similar, but I doubt they will because it's kind of incomprehensibly eye-burny.

Oh! And I ordered the crankset and Oury grips for Beetlejuice Friday, so hopefully I can get him into working condition this coming week. Brakeless, but I don't plan on riding him far until I get some brakes. Maybe just take him to the park and try to practice riding fixed in general. I'm going to saw off the drop bars for the time being. Hopefully the bank will send me my fudgin' debit card so I can order the handlebars, seat and brake.

It's really nice out and I'm stuck inside on Photoshop! SIGH!

Pizzadog Art

My friend Elliot drew this!!! This is Olive, my pembroke that stayed with Justin when I left Memphis. I miss her, but she's a traitor and stayed in Memphis so she could chase Rascal (BHT Pem) and Mr. Pants (kitty cat) because she likes chasing and killing things.

I asked him if he could change it to Mason and I'm going to use the Mason version as my header!!! YAY!!!!

Beetlejuice

So now that I'm not a crippled old woman and I can ride bikes again, I decided to pick it back up. I'm really amped about doing just about anything now that I can, and I wanna ride fixed gear because A) I never have B)I hate gears and have always rode single speed C) I want a challenge D) I want something I can learn on, like learn tricks and stuff.

I used to have a Raleigh that my friend Cara converted to a single speed for me before my joints went to hell and I couldn't ride and I sold it, thinking I'd be 4ever in pain. Now that I'm not, I found ANOTHER Raleigh (totally not my intent, I was gonna get a Motobecane track bike online) in my friend Charles' backyard and after talking to Cara and my friend Jim I've decided to build this puppers cuz it'll be like a 300 dollar investment in something totally badass.

Just talking to them and having my dad help me disassemble it and looking at fresh parts I've learned A LOT. Not enough to call myself at all competent, but I love learning new things and it's exciting.

As you see in the title of this post, I've decided to name my bike Beetlejuice. I have two progress photos of relevance, I'm putting the cog/lockring on the wheel this weekend and putting the wheels on temporarily until I get the crankset/raiserbars/grips/brake/wolfseat with my tax refund.

BEFORE:

SORTA AFTER:

As you can see I just propped it up on those wheels to check it out, and it still has some masking tape on the Raleigh logo and other parts that need to be taken off and sanded to finish (no I didn't just attack it with paint haha).

So far its only parts are the Raleigh sportif frame (lugged and sexy repainted in Mandarin orange) and the Eighthinch Amelia lime green wheelset. Oh, and I have a 1/8 inch purple chain sitting off to the side waiting to be used.

Introductions

Well, I am starting a blog where I can talk about my life and personal issues, because I tend to only do ones for my art. My name is Kayla, I'm 22 and I'm an illustrator and graphic novelist. I am unemployed and I live at home with my parents until that is amended. I used to live in Memphis in a tiny apartment. I rescue corgis and I own the lesser form of corgwyn called a Cardigan Welsh Corgi. His name is Mason, and he derps a lot:

I'm a mystical "girl gamer" (whatever) and I play a lot of XBOX. Mostly Skyrim, Gears of War 2 and Eternal Sonata at the moment. I draw a lot of pictures and I read a lot of books. I'm starting to get into being fit and healthy, which is a new development because I have had Rheumatoid Arthritis for a few years and just now got it under control.

I'm a little insecure of myself because I've messed up friendships and I suck at interacting with people, but I try really hard to be a good person.

And I guess that's what should matter right?
